Each person crafting flower essences have their own unique process. To me, this is the gift the plants give us. The freedom of intuition, integrity and the infusion of our own personal gifts. While there are certain practices that one would follow if wanting to stay true to the "craft", you may wish to feel into any variations that feel right for you.

Flower Essences can be found on line as well as in some pharmacies and while both are options... there is nothing that will grow your connection to the earth and to yourself quiet like you will experience in this process. You will feel the potency in your makings and that can not be replicated by anyone else!

There is not one way of making a flower essence yet there are a few best practices that will set you out on your path.

step one

preparing the water

Water is what's capturing the flower essence and as such it is important that it is free of environmental, chemical, and negative energetic elements. Spring water is always the first choice when available. You can use well water, which has been my practice for 15 years. Filtered water is another option. It is suggested not to use distilled water as it is thought that the ionization process destroys the water’s energy which is necessary to hold the flower’s essence

You may have become aware that water holds energy, both positive and negative. Ensure that you feel grounded and your own energy is positive. Take a moment to infuse your water with positive words, prayers, blessing, words of affirmation, which ever speaks to you. You are creating the space that will hold the essence of your chosen flower.

chosing your flower

Often wild flowers/herbs are over looked when choosing blooms to use. My personal practice when working with the blooms is to allow my feelings to guide me. I notice which ones have been standing out as I'm walking in nature. Or perhaps there's one that seems to be trying to get my attention. It may be the delicate scent. It may be the beautiful blooms. It may be how the plant looks against it's backdrop. There is no one reason yet, if you follow the feels of your heart you may be guided to the blooms that can support you most at his time.

Choose blooms that you, yourself have harvested. Remember that we are working with energy. If you were to purchase blooms, each person that has had a hand in their journey from seed to you will be an energetic part of your finished essence.

Harvest your blooms on a clear, sunny day, preferably in the early morning, when morning dew is still on them.

Caution: Harvest flowers from plants that you have positively identified and know to be safe for use. Do not harvest in any areas that you do not know to be free of chemicals. Choosing organic/wild is best.

A crystal vessel

Choose a crystal glass or bowl that is not too large. You may at first find yourself thinking, I want to make more than that! You are indeed making more (much more) than the amount of water in your vessel. You are making your {Mother Essence}.

Place your crystal vessel in a sunny location where it will have 4-6 hours of sunlight without ever being shaded. This process is thought to transfer the energy pattern of the flower into the water, embodying the beneficial essence of the plant. I often make offerings which sits out for a full 24 hours, allowing it to capture both the sun and moon energy.

After adding the water to your glass vessel, you will then place individual blooms on the surface of the water.
Ensure the entire surface is covered.

Once complete this “mother essence” is preserved with brandy before further diluting it. Once diluted this will become your dosage bottle.

How To Use Your
Flower Essence

The mother essence is to be diluted and never consumed directly.

  • In a one ounce amber glass dropper bottle place 10 drops of the {Mother Essence}.
  • Fill your dropper bottle to the half way point with spring water.
  • You will now fill the other half with brandy.

This is called a “dosage or stock” bottle. From this bottle, take two to four drops under the tongue, up to four times a day, as needed.
